Intel UrbanMax Tablet Computer: More Details and Video

Hot on the heels of the pictures and initial light information and speculation, there’s more information out regarding the slick Intel UrbanMax. Is it a tablet? A netbook? Netbook tablet computer? Tablet netbook? A netlet? (Please, don’t let that term catch on.) Well, according to Intel, it’s primarily designed as a touch device, but that still doesn’t answer the question.

As guessed at from the pictures, it’s running Windows Vista and it appears to be aimed primarily at media playback. The video shows it playing a 1080p video and doing so without stutter. That’s probably because it’s packing a Core 2 Duo under the 11″ screen. There’s no mention of the video card, but I’m putting money on an X4500.

There’s also no mention of hard drive (or SSD) or memory or any other real specs, but the Intel UrbanMax is a concept device and the OEMs they’re shopping it around to will apparently have some say in the specifics. Still, it does look like a pretty interesting device that I could very easily see being used in your local Starbucks or Panera or some other hip place where people take their portables to.

And what’s with that “optical mouse” at the bottom of the keyboard? I’d love to try one of those out because I’ve always disliked the eraser head, but I can almost imagine that thing would work. Then again, if you really need to move the mouse, maybe using your finger on the touch screen would be easier.

Check out GottaBeMobile for the Intel UrbanMax netbook tablet computer in action.

P.S. Is that a Flip camera? I really ought to pick one of those up.
