Fujitsu Amilo Mini Ui 3520 Netbook revealed

Hello, Fujitsu, and welcome to the netbook game. It’s so nice of you to join, well, everyone else with this spectacular offering. With its two-tone exterior and hip interior, Fujitsu is ready to take bow over the market with this one-of-a-kind offering. Wait, what’s that? It’s just like everyone else’s, only worse? Are you sure?
So even though I don’t find the two-tone color thing to be that awful (on the exterior), just look at the specs. Aside from having a gig of RAM and an ExpressCard slot, this is bringing absolutely nothing new to the table. Really? You waited all of this time for that, Fujitsu?

If that’s not bad enough, they’ve included an abysmally slow hard drive. 3600 RPM (the standard drive, anyway)? Wow, watch it boot XP in two minutes flat!

Okay, okay, I’m being a little mean, but really, this is nothing new. There’s also wasted space around the keyboard, and the standard wasted space around the LCD (more so than you normally see on netbooks), and that two-tone thing really isn’t working on the interior. Are they trying to do a MacBook Air thing with the keyboard and shell?

There’s no mention of the battery or expected battery life, but considering everything else about the netbook screams “run of the mill” I think it’s safe to guess it’ll be a 3 cell getting somewhere around three hours of life.

I like netbooks. I really do. I own a couple of them and think I may get another (an LG or an MSI, maybe), but if you’re going to bring a new netbook to the market, do something with it that makes it stand out (and preferably in a good way). Don’t recycle what everyone else has done.

Sorry, Fujitsu, but this is a stinker.

jkmobile has more on Fujitsu’s flop.
