MSI Wind U90 netbook

So the MSI Wind has been slowly winning me over with its reasonably stylish looks and, more importantly, it’s large, usable looking keyboard. Even though I opted to go a different route and got an Acer Aspire One instead, I think the MSI Wind would still be a good choice (though I’m not a fan of hard drives or Windows where netbooks are concerned). So what has MSI brought to the table with the MSI Wind U90 netbook?

Well, it’s basically a smaller version of the MSI Wind, or MSI Wind U100 as it is more properly known (and not referred to as by and large). By smaller, it’s packing an 8.9″ display and has the standard array of hardware and features. There’s really nothing that makes this stand out against other netbook offerings, except for their groovy keyboard design and relative lack of wasted space.

The most interesting part of the MSI Wind U90 netbook is that it’s going to ship with a 3 cell battery (like everyone else) but that a 6 cell battery will be available (more or less like everyone else). The difference here, of course, is that it seems to be implied the 6 cell should available sooner rather than later. That’d be nice considering how long it’s taken MSI to bring out the 6 cell battery for the original Wind.

So really, there’s not much to speak of here, but let’s laugh at MSI’s own description of some of the features:

• Convenient Magnifying Capability
• Ergonomic Big-Size Keyboard and Touch Pad
• Hard Drive with Massive Capacity
• Built-in High Resolution Mega Pixels Webcam
• Built-in High-Performance 2 Channel Stereo Speakers, and Microphone

Big-Size Keyboard? Well, it’s big given the netbook’s size, but that’s being a bit generous in the wording, isn’t it? And a hard drive with Massive Capacity? I somehow doubt they’re cramming a 1TB (or larger) drive into it. Still, amusing.

Thanks Engadget for pointing this out on MSI’s site.
