Everex CloudBook CE1200V Netbook review

It seems my idea of doing retro reviews on old, crappy hardware that no one really cares about except to laugh at has already been done. This review of the Everex netbook, which must be somewhere around a year after the netbook was originally released, goes into the gory details of how big a failure it is. Of course, if you’ve read any of the reviews that have been around for a while now you’d know this is the case. That doesn’t make it less enjoyable to read, however. (more…)

Albatron mini tablet Tee PC

Albatron, who you might know from the video card market, has announced they’re releasing a mini tablet computer, dubbed the Tee PC that sports a rather large screen for the hardware it has crammed inside. While not exactly a netbook or a true tablet computer, Albatron has targeted an audience that I think evaporated when HP stopped producing the iPAQ. Still, that said, I have a fondness for these things that makes it hard to hate on it too much. (more…)

Lenovo S10 netbook: limited stock?

So Lenovo announced not so long ago that its S10 netbook, one of many Atom powered netbooks to be unleashed on the world in the last few months, was ready to be purchased. Initial shipping times were estimated at 2-3 weeks, and then all of a sudden, that changed to 3-5 business days. Well, looking on Lenovo’s site today, the Lenovo S10 isn’t going to be getting to you in anywhere near that time. (more…)

Acer Aspire One’s SSD really, REALLY slow?

It’s no secret that I’m pretty happy with my Acer Aspire One netbook, but I did note in the review that it has received some pretty low marks where the SSD is concerned. That isn’t the case for everyone, though. (more…)

Asus N10 netbook — upscale netbook?

Asus has announced the addition of yet another netbook to their ever expanding fleet, only this one isn’t an Eee. Instead, it’s the Asus N10 netbook, but since my French is rusty (read: non-existent), I haven’t the slightest clue what the reason behind the name is. (more…)

Intel releases MacBook Air’s CPU to other OEMs

So with the glut of netbook news, and the recent news of AMD and VIA both putting out rather impressive CPUs, it appears that Intel has finally shared the tiny CPU that powers Apple’s MacBook Air with the rest of the OEMs. The Air, as everyone knows, is rather thin (thin enough to cut a cake) and Apple has flaunted its diminuitive belt size. Acer Aspire One Netbook: not as expensive as it used to be

Sigh. Hot on the heels of me buying my Acer Aspire One netbook, Acer has decided it needs to be more competitive in this highly saturated netbook market and has announced price drops, and pretty considerable ones at that.
