I’ve threatened to do iPhone related stories, so here’s a short one.
The MachDice dice rolling simulator (simulator? Really?) is the coolest (nerdiest?) app I’ve seen for the iPhone 3G. Forget to take your dice with you to your D&D (or Rifts or Heroes Unlimited anyone?) game? Mach has you covered. Check out the video for how it works. This is one seriously cool app, and a steal at $.99.
Thanks to Macrumors iPhone blog for the heads up.
I’ll be buying this app when I get my iPhone 3G soon.
Getting away from the netbook and tablet PC craze, let’s go back to a time when Microsoft thought it could take over the world with tiny PCs, the Ultra-Mobile PC, or UMPC for short. Formerly known as Origami, these diminutive machines generally featured small screens, terrible processors, little memory, tiny storage, and were basically appalling to use. Fast forward a few years and let’s say hi to Fujitsu’s new UMPC, the Lifebook U2010. (more…)
Hot on the heels of the pictures and initial light information and speculation, there’s more information out regarding the slick Intel UrbanMax. Is it a tablet? A netbook? Netbook tablet computer? Tablet netbook? A netlet? (Please, don’t let that term catch on.) Well, according to Intel, it’s primarily designed as a touch device, but that still doesn’t answer the question. (more…)

So I know it probably looks like I’m a little wishy washy when it comes to tablet computers, but Intel’s UrbanMax looks like one I can get excited about. It’s hard to pin down to a few words why I like this tablet computer and dislike others, but there’s something promising about this concept tablet. (more…)
First on the list is another netbook tablet being powered by the Atom from Arbor (who?). I know I railed on poor Kohjinsha’s upcoming netbook tablet, but this one is a little more interesting to me because it’s a 7″ tablet computer, and it’s been ruggedized. The market may not be the standard consumer market but rather military or other similar “rough” markets where computers need to withstand a beating. (more…)
So it looks like Lenovo’s dive into the netbook market with the Lenovo S10 netbook is almost ready to go despite prior reports that it wouldn’t hit stateside until October. So what separates Lenovo’s offering from everyone else’s, aside from the Chinese government thing? (more…)
