Ok, let’s be honest here: I’ve been sick, and given that the majority of SFF news that’s come out lately has been little more than the standard fair, I’ve not had much reason to dig up the effort required to read and put some thought into whipping up a new post. In fairness, I’m still struggling as I try to beat whatever the hell this virus is, but you didn’t come here for me to bitch, so instead, let’s talk about the LG X110 netbook, and if there’s time left, I might make fun of Packard Bell. That’s a tease, right? (more…)
In an effort to dredge up some news while I’m spending quality time at home single-handedly putting children Kimberly-Clark executives through college by using Kleenex by the pound, something interesting did show up. While it’s been pretty slow lately, there’s been talk of the Sony getting into the netbook game (yay?) and the Sony Vaio TT. Well, I’m guessing this isn’t their entry into the netbook market, especially given what I can only imagine will be the price on the high-end model, but still, interesting nonetheless. (more…)
Ok, so I’m sitting here sick and feeling awful and I’m a little behind on the news. Well, here’s my first attempt to get caught up and it involves the Asus N10 netbook which is now not a netbook but a notebook. What makes it so? Well, mainly the Asus representative who kept saying in a very Arnold-in-Kingergarten-Cop-fashion, “it’s not a netbook!” That aside, we finally have video we can watch of this thing in action. Well, video anyway. (more…)
Ok, this isn’t netbook or tablet computer or anything like that related, so sue me. A theoretical situation: you buy an Apple Aluminum Keyboard (because they’re cool) and aren’t using an Apple computer. How do you get it to actually work in Windows? You poked around on google which turned up some good ideas, but either the files were old or the method didn’t work, so here’s how make your shiny (well, it’s really sort-of matte) new Apple Aluminum Keyboard work in Windows: (more…)
I hope your French is better than mine, because all I can say is “I don’t speak French.” Anyhow, a review of the Kohjinsha SX3 netbook tablet that left me scratching my head has surfaced. Again, because my French is rather woeful, it’s hard to say for certain, but it’d appear that the initial response (it’s apparently not an exhaustive review) is positive. (more…)
Word on the street is that Apple is getting ready to send out new MacBooks, or rather, they’re already on the way. Does this mean that another Apple event is going to happen soon, or are they just going to spring these fancy new machines on the (not) unsuspecting public? And what’s different about them? (more…)
So today’s the big day when iPhone 2.1 firmware is released and a little scanning of forums sounds like it’s mostly positive. There’s some speculation that Apple changed the algorithm to display “more bars” even when the signal is weak, but this is rampant speculation and rumor for now. So while there’s no solid data on reception and call quality, the rest of the update seems to have been good. Me? I’m waiting another few days before I update mine. (Oh yeah, got a 3G last week.)
