Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook

In a surprise to absolutely no one (except for the name), the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook is official. You can’t help but stumble over the information about it if you go to any computer/tech based website, but what the hell? Everyone else is doing it so why don’t we? (Thank you, Cranberries.)

While a lot of other sites are busy falling over themselves to talk about how good the Mini 9 is, I remain underwhelmed. Aesthetically, it’s a very good looking machine. They’ve kept the bezel to a minimum compared to other netbooks, but then they had to go and put that stupid keyboard on it. Bleh. Frankly, for the money, unless the SSD is a hell of a lot faster, I’d rather get an Acer Aspire One or an MSI Wind.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook features the same specs as everyone else on the market and starts at $349 for the linux (Ubuntu mobile) model with a 4GGB SSD. An 8GGB SSD with Windows XP Home goes for $399 and a 16GB SSD for $449. Of course, the way Dell lists the prices those are basically “introductory” prices (aside from the 4GB model) so it’s hard to say if the prices will stay there.

Now that it’s official and we can see the Dell Mini Inspiron 9 netbook, is anyone else out there yawning, too?

Dell’s site has more details.
