LG X110 netbook — the new MSI Wind?

Ok, let’s be honest here: I’ve been sick, and given that the majority of SFF news that’s come out lately has been little more than the standard fair, I’ve not had much reason to dig up the effort required to read and put some thought into whipping up a new post. In fairness, I’m still struggling as I try to beat whatever the hell this virus is, but you didn’t come here for me to bitch, so instead, let’s talk about the LG X110 netbook, and if there’s time left, I might make fun of Packard Bell. That’s a tease, right?

It was about a month ago that I first mentioned the LG X110 netbook and it looks like a little more information regarding specs is coming out now.

To the point, the LG X110 netbook doesn’t come with a whole host of features that separates it from the usual crowd — in fact it shares most of those similarities. It has the standard Atom, a hard drive of varying size, a meager-moderate amount of RAM, etc. etc. It does also have bluetooth, which you don’t see on all of the netbooks out there, and it also apparently comes with Windows Vista Home Basic. Ack! Yuck! Ptooey! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I defend Vista, but Vista has no business being on a netbook.

Anyhow, the LG X110 netbook also is 3G equipped for the rest of the world (since 3G support in the US is still little more than a bad joke). However, the real reason to get the LG offering is for the normal-sized right shift key. Ok, that’s sort of a joke, sort of not, but hey, points to them for going that route.

Despite the updated specs, there’s no mention of the GPS module initially hinted at. Pity.

P.S. I’m not feeling it…yet…but Packard Bell? Come on!
