So it was just last week that Dell decided to let the world know that they’re going to be releasing what looks to be a compelling netbook, the Dell Mini 12 Netbook / Dell Inspiron 1210 Netbook, and this week we have HP re-entering the market with their HP Mini 1000 netbook. What separates this from the original HP Mini netbook? Well, let’s take a look. (more…)
This looks to be pretty breaking news, but if you remember when we last spoke about the Dell Mini 12 netbook, we were speculating about possible cool things like a dual core Atom and an almost-full size (if not full-size) keyboard among other things. Well, while some things are definitely looking good with this machine, I’m pretty sure I won’t be regretting my MacBook Air purchase when it arrives. (more…)
Let’s play name the unreleased/unannounced Dell: is it the Dell Mini 12? Dell Inspiron 1210? Dell E-Slim 12? Dell E-Slim 1210? Some combination of all of them? None of them? Well, it looks like the first two are the winners according to documents that were discovered on Dell’s site last week. If that’s all you’re interested in, there’ll be links at the end, but since this isn’t breaking news, bear with me. (more…)
So this is all the buzz today, and for good reason. It’s funny how Apple can do something as simple as update their product line — not a major overhaul, mind you — and generate so much buzz. Sure, Dell got a lot of buzz with the Dell Inspiron 910 netbook, but not the same kind of buzz. This is tangible and has bunches of sites and grown, adult people trying to figure out what in the world Steve Jobs could possibly have for them. Well, today was product refresh day, so what’s the big news? (more…)
I’ve been watching the news, but there’s really not a whole lot that has been exciting in the last few days, outside of the rampant Apple speculation. Sure, the MSI Wind U120 netbook has been revealed, but I’m not really into “business” computers (or netbooks, for that matter), so I really can’t bring myself to write about it. It’s not that it’s bad, but it’d just come off as total desperation for a post. With that in mind, here’s something that I initially passed on but have decided to bring up: Asus is continuing their onslaught of Eee PCs with a small assortment of announcements. (more…)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m a Vista defender. Having said that, I don’t actually use it on any of my computers (so that’s not really worth a whole lot, is it?), but I have a point here: just because it’s Windows doesn’t mean it’s bad. But, that’s not necessarily the point of this. With the plethora of netbooks on the market, the options are pretty varied where operating systems are involved. At least, they are now. (more…)
Ok, I’m still trying to get back into a normal posting rhythm here following being on my deathbed, and even though I’ve already posted something today, I thought I’d make a couple of comments about recent speculation of an Apple netbook (ironically, not an Apple tablet computer). It’s widely suspected that Apple will be announcing product refreshes on the 14th, and possibly, some new products. (more…)
