Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook Impressions

It seems like only yesterday that we talked about the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook being available for pre-order, and it seems like Asus has wasted little time in getting review units out to the better known sites of the world, which this one is obviously not part of.The early impressions are in, and it looks like the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook is a winner. I know we briefly went over a few key differences in the netbook already, but not we’re finally getting an opportunity to see how these changes affect real world performance and usage.

The keyboard is apparently a very large improvement and now offers a sturdier typing surface and better feedback. The new processor and graphics chips, the Intel Atom N280 and Intel GN40, however, don’t appear to have as much an effect on performance. Initial impressions showed that playing 1080p video was still choppy on the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook, but there’s still the possibility that some tweaks and/or drivers could drum up a little more power. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

It’s looking rather likely at this point that I’ll be ordering one, so if (when?) I do, you can expect a full write-up, much like the Acer Aspire One (AOA110-1722) netbook review.

Laptopmag has more on the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook.
