Even though the iPad isn’t out yet, that hasn’t stopped some folks from cooking up the latest batch of software to modify their iPods and iPhones in ways that Apple doesn’t want them to. With his latest version of the software, George Hotz, better known as geohot, the guy who has provided blacksn0w/blackra1n/etc., has managed to make an untethered (i.e. no cable to the computer) jailbreak that he thinks is going to work for the iPad.
From his blog:
The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.
He’s even made a video of the new iPhone/iPod(/iPad?) jailbreak in action. Even though it’s a little small and washed out from the light, it’s pretty wild to see.
We’ll be following this story as it develops. That Super Nintendo emulator may finally be usable after all (on something other than a 3GS). Any the Playstation one? Ooh…
