Hooray For Hiatus!

I’m going to be taking a hiatus from this site for a while. In all honesty, I’m not sure it matters much anyway because once I stopped hacking OS X onto netbooks, well, there’s quite simply not as much interest. I’m fine with that, too, because this is really just a hobby of mine, something I started to share a some thoughts and experiences on things.

I’m pretty sure along the way I, and especially you readers, have helped people to get OS X running on some machines it wasn’t meant for. I also like to think I provided a little discussion on some interesting products and stories along the way, but I don’t delude myself into thinking I did any real gut-busting reporting.

Regardless, I’ve clearly lost any and all interest I once had in netbooks, and seeing as SFF computing isn’t terribly exciting these days (sure there’s new CPUs from Intel and AMD, but really, they’re just updates to existing things, so how exciting can it be?) I just don’t see much need to keep posting for now. Besides, I really don’t want to turn this into a tablet site even though tablet computers are all the rage right now.

So, regardless, thanks for visiting, and I imagine I’ll be posting here and there as something catches my eye, but at least there’s a little warning that it’ll be sporadic. In the meantime, nothing will go anywhere, so for those who are still finding this site via google or other sites and are trying to install old versions of OS X on their machines, the info will still be there.

Cheers.

Samsung N120 Netbook + Broadcom BCM4321 + OS X = :D

Just a quick site update more than anything, but I just popped said BCM4321 into my Samsung N120 netbook and wifi is working great (in the three minutes I’ve had to test it). For those who might be a little frightened by the somewhat in-depth breakdown required by the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook, the Samsung N120 netbook consists of thirteen screws and then just popping the case apart. Take old card out, put new one in, and you’re good.

So, how about some guide updates? (more…)

New Look; Forums

If you’re wondering why it’s taking me a while to update the guide and post news, this is why. For better or worse, I’ve updated the look and added features. I’m sure some things are still broken and I apologize in advance, but I want to get this going since I really, really hate how it looked. It was fine at one time, but I’m tired of it, so out with crowded and in with minimalism!

While you’re visiting, check out the forums. Yeah, I know they’re empty now, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Site Look Change Imminent

This is just site news: I’m tired of this theme and will be transitioning to a cleaner, more readable look soon. If things are wonky for a bit, I apologize in advance. I’ll try to get everything functioning before changing, but something is bound to be broken. Again, my apologies in advance.

Welcome!

This is obviously still in the development stages, but come back soon for more information on Netbooks, SFF computing, and other such things.

First up will be an Acer Aspire One first impressions article followed by a review/comparison with the Eee PC 701. Depending on how things go with the Acer Aspire One, it may be followed by a review of the Eee Box.
