NickCA, how did you get Trackpad to work?
« Reply #78 on: October 31, 2009, 01:21:24 PM »
I've installed as recommended and working well, but the Trackpad doesn't respond to the Trackpad pref pane settings.

It's always tap to click. That causes LOTS of typing and selection errors.

What kext was used to enable it? I've tried the VoodooPS2, but that didn't work at all.

I'm thinking there may be a difference in the NetBookInstaller versions. I used the latest, RC3. Was RC1 a different PS2 controller??

I remain baffled as I've tried to install half a dozen times now to no avail. I've had it freeze during the installation on me at least five times using the restore-retail-DVD-to-USB method, and I get a kernel panic when I try to boot a USB hard drive installed SL (though it boots without issue on my MBP).

I'm about at my wit's end with this.

For those like me with the  NE766 WiFi, there is a simple solution, just download and install the Ralink mac os x driver for the RT2860 model.

My netbook doesn't recognize my WiFi card as being airport, but the Ralink software does, you can create profiles for various WiFi spots and it will connect to the ones available.

On the other hand, how the hell do I type the @ symbol on my keyboard, none of the normal combinations is working  :-\

First of all fantastic post. Thanks to all who contribute.

Just a small problem that probably can be solved by anyone out there except me. lol

I own a 1000he purchased about a year ago. Since I wanted Leopard on this I installed the ideneb 1.3 version. I swapped out the included wifi with a Dell Wlan 1390. Everything was awesome. I had a dual boot system with Leopard and Xp.

Now that Snow Leopard came out I tried to install it via post #16. It installed fine. Dell 1390 wifi was recognized. After the install i downloaded the 10.6 update and installed. I then proceeded to installed the kexts via kext helper b7 as described in this post (VoodooHDA, VoodooPower, AttansicL1). Now the sound does not work still and my wireless has dissappeared. It stated that no wifi card is detected. Under system info it states that all the airport drivers installed.

I've reinstalled snow leopard and still the same situation.

Also for extra info I updated bios to 1104?

I have upgraded the ram to 2gb and swapped out the wifi card with a dell 1390.

I know my wifi card works as it works in xp.

Also one last thing when I push fn f2 it turns on and off the wifi but the wifi light stays on.

Any help out there?

I am sort of loosing my mind.

TIA

Well, 10.6.2 killed it for me. Freezes at boot (never gets past the grey Apple logo screen). Anyone got any ideas?

Edit: This perhaps has something to do with it? http://www.netbookreviews.com/forum/netbook-news/725-update-2-apple-just-killed-intel-atom-support-osx-10-6-2-a.html

It's kind of over my head, but as you found out, Atom support is killed in 10.6.2. You can either backup the 10.6.2 kernel and run the 10.6.1 kernel after update or a new NetbookInstaller was released as an initial patch to the kernel. I guess it might be buggy though since the source hasn't been released yet. Check out http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/general-mac-os-x-discussion/15050-osx-10-6-2-a-1.html.

I should add, since NBI is for the Dell Mini, I have no idea if the patch works for the Eee too. Right now, the update doesn't seem worth the trouble to try. It's probably better to stick with 10.6.1 and wait until the source comes out and the patch isn't so hackish (hopefully).

Hey guys, a quick question. i installed the new airport card, but for some reason when i restart the computer it doesnt detect the card. i have to restart go to bios disable wifi restart again enable wifi in bios then its there. is there a reason that i have to keep doing this? am i missing something? also ive been unable to use an external monitor. i found a link that says to open a file called mirroring and type mirroring off, but when i open it it doesnt work, so i was hoping someone might have an idea. Thanks in advance!!

For 10.6.2 I used netbookInstaller rc4 and it worked a charm. It uses tea's kernel patch I think.

How 10.6.2 works on 100HE, any issues?

Does this action sequence is OK to set up 10.6.2 :

1) delete old SleepEnabler.kext from /Extra and rebuild kext cache
2) install 10.6.2 update
3) change kernel with patched one
4) reboot
5) install new SleepEnabler.kext from /Extra and rebuild kext cache

?

I have followed the directions here to no avail.  My install gets to 9 minutes left and then sits there for hours.  Im trying to install on a EeePC 1000HE with bios rev# 1002.

Anyone have any ideas?  I have tried four times now and each time it's the same thing.

Cheers.

Edit:  I restored the USB stick twice more but again it stalls at 9 minutes left.   ???

so annoying.. shutdown, battery meter does not work no matter what i try. I upgraded to 10.6.2 with no worries..
battery was working before i tried fixing some sleep issues without backing up my kexts..
now i am sure that my kexts were overwritten with the wrong ones, or something like that..

could someone at least post a list of all kexts inside system/library/extensions so I can compare ?

Perhaps using ls -al so i can see the modifications and sizes..

ls -al > file.txt

will automatically do the needful and copy everything to file.txt that can be posted here.

I am using NBI rc4 w/ the extensions.kext. not bothered about bt or ethernet at this time..

please post nbi version and SL version as well i.e. 10.6 or 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 etc

Shoota, you should make use of Spark. It's an application that will let you create shortcut keys. I used it for my volume keys by mapping ctrl+[the volume marked F-keys].

By the way, on your machine do you happen to have any problems with the volume un-muting when you wake it from sleep? I abandoned OS X because of that issue and I'm not sure if it has been fixed or if it still plagues it.

Also, can anyone tell me what their average battery life is when using OS X on a 1000HE?

Thanks.

Can someone post SL vanilla AppleSMBIOS.kext ?
« Reply #95 on: January 10, 2010, 05:20:21 PM »
I overwrote mine without backing it up, and I have have traced my battery indicator problems to this error.

Could someone mind posting the System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext ?

I think its the same for all Snow Leopard versions 10.6 10.6.1 and 10.6.2

And if you wont mind, the vanilla PowerManagement.bundle would help too...

i have the unmute problem too. sleep and shut down work fine. if i had to guess i would say battery life is around 6 hours. i'm thinking about reinstalling leopard, i had zero problems with that.

All of you are "GREAT"! Such a wealth of info here that sometimes gets confusing to follow. I was wondering what you guys use to do images when you have a drive that's partitioned in half with one half NTFS and the other for OSX. I have Archronis and HD Clone but not sure if either will work with the OSX partition. Any help would be great! Thanks to all!

Hello Everyone, I have a 1000HE 160gb portioned in half with one half loaded SL and the other Windows 7 32bit. My problem is I can't get a boot menu that will allow me to run either OS. I've tried BCD ect. I know it's all in the MBR but have little experience with dealing or editing that. Is their any quick easy method? Thanks in advanced.
