MacBook Air Late 2010 — the Good, the Bad and Why It Will Sell

So yesterday Apple had their event at the town hall on their campus, and among other things that they announced, the world seems to be focused on the new MacBook Air. Of course, in another few months that focus will change to the OS X App Store, and then a little further down the line it’ll change to OS X 10.7 Lion, and somewhere in between all of this will be Facetime for OS X. Whew, there were a lot of announcements! Oh, and let’s not forget iLife ’11, but then, I don’t really care about that one right now, so we’ll ignore it for the time being. What I really want to do is talk about the MacBook Air and why it’s the perfect computer for most, and that even though I love small form-factor systems, why it’s not right for me (and probably a few of you, too). Sony Vaio TT Specs Leaked?

In an effort to dredge up some news while I’m spending quality time at home single-handedly putting children Kimberly-Clark executives through college by using Kleenex by the pound, something interesting did show up. While it’s been pretty slow lately, there’s been talk of the Sony getting into the netbook game (yay?) and the Sony Vaio TT. Well, I’m guessing this isn’t their entry into the netbook market, especially given what I can only imagine will be the price on the high-end model, but still, interesting nonetheless. (more…)

Intel releases MacBook Air’s CPU to other OEMs

So with the glut of netbook news, and the recent news of AMD and VIA both putting out rather impressive CPUs, it appears that Intel has finally shared the tiny CPU that powers Apple’s MacBook Air with the rest of the OEMs. The Air, as everyone knows, is rather thin (thin enough to cut a cake) and Apple has flaunted its diminuitive belt size.
