Lenovo IdeaPad S12 Netbook With nVidia Ion

Just when it seemed like netbooks were doomed to all be the exact same, chassis aside, Asus decided to unveil the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook that has been racking up almost nothing but rave reviews, and for good reason. And then Samsung decided to bring out the Samsung N120 netbook, a 10″ netbook with a 100% sized 12″ keyboard, and it’s good. So what else can come out now that would shake up the netbook community? How about one of those damn promised nVidia Ion based netbooks? Here’s where the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 netbook comes into play.

NVIDIA Ion Benchmarks and Review

It looks like you can expect the NVIDIA Ion information to start rolling in any time now. I was doing some poking around and saw some benchmarks have been posted based on reference parts and figured with the recent talk about NVIDIA Ion and the Intel Atom N280/Intel GN40 that I wouldn’t be the only one intereted to hear how NVIDIA’s new platform performs. nVidia CEO on Netbooks: Ion, Atom, Nano

So in a pretty interesting interview, nVidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang gave us a pretty damn good idea of where he, and nVidia, is headed in the the small form factor market in the near future. Of course, what might interest most is what he has to say about nVidia’s Ion platform, which is what has caused Intel to somewhat panic and come up with the Intel Atom 280 and Intel GN40. Ok, panic is probably being a bit harsh, but it’s safe to say that nVidia has the enthusiast crowd pretty fired up about the possibilities the Ion platform will bring to netbooks. (more…)
